Kris Pompa is one of Galveston’s born and raised. He is the “middle” child of three brothers, if middle counts since he has a twin. Kris was an eager Junior Lifeguard starting at age 10 all the way to age 15, often competing in the United States Lifesaving Association’s Junior Lifeguard Competitions. As soon as he was old enough he became a lifeguard, in the year 2003. Kris worked his way up the beach patrol ranks, serving as a much loved Junior Lifeguard Instructor, and is currently a supervisor. He has always been a Beach Patrol favorite. He is very kind and continually works at keeping staff moral high by hosting crawfish boils, soccer games, disc golf tournaments, or writing songs to True American Heroes like “Puller out of the Sandman”.
In 2009 he graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. of Sports Management. He interned with the Houston Dynamos and was a Marketing Associate with Houston Rockets for a short time. This year Beach Patrol was lucky to hire Kris as a full time supervisor. He is currently attending Galveston College to get his Texas Peace Officer Certification. Kris is going to be a excellent addition to the Tourist Oriented Policing (T.O.P.s) program due to his natural charisma and charm.
Keep an eye out for Kris (aka Pompa) as it gets warmer and Seawall patrols start. Be sure to greet him when you see him. You’ll be engaged in a good conversation and possibly invited to one of his famous hosted events.
